The 140 postgraduate courses on offer at UEL are taught by award-winning, industry-leading, UK and international experts. This includes famous artists, Turner Prize-winners, recognised film-makers and authors, leaders of industry and award-winning researchers.
UEL postgraduate programmes are mainly delivered through lectures and seminars but many courses are also available on podcasts and offered as part-time with teaching in the evening and at weekends for flexible learning.
Many highly acclaimed researchers also teach postgraduate courses at the university, giving students exposure to leading teaching and research at the forefront of their field.
The university also has excellent links to industry, creating opportunities for internships and work placements, helping postgraduate students to gain professional experience.
Research
In the 2021 Postgraduate Research Experience Survey, UEL achieved 81% for overall satisfaction. Much of UEL’s research aims to find solutions to local and international challenges.
UEL has also been voted the top modern university in London for research, much of which has been recognised as world-leading.
UEL is ranked within the top six modern universities nationally for research based on the Research Assessment Exercise and has more than 50 research institutes, centres and groups.
Postgraduate qualifications include professional doctorates, MPhil and PhD programmes.
The award-winning school of Architecture, Computing and Engineering is particularly well respected for its internationally recognised research. There are several research centres such as The Centre on Human Rights in Conflict which conducts research aimed at changing government policy.
Distance learning
The university offers a number of postgraduate distance learning programmes to allow for more flexibility.
Distance learning students will have access to personal tutors and online forums to stay connected and up to date. Study materials may also be sent online or by post and students won’t have to attend face-to-face lectures.
