MSc Psychological Science

QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY BELFAST

Samreen Fatima - November 2023

The campus is beautiful and the people across it are very supportive. Moreover, the cost of living crisis campaign has made it very easy for international students to settle in.

No suggestions for University improvement! read full review
The campus is very well maintained and the student support and faculty are very supportive and understanding. The drawback is the food options on campus are relatively less. read full review

NORTHUMBRIA UNIVERSITY, NEWCASTLE

Sasuni Nimansa - November 2023

I just started my studies at Northumbria University on September this year and by the looks of it, it seems to be going great with a brand new look at everything. This includes being in a huge university, which I was shocked on the first day here. I pretty much got lost on the way to each class. The lecture rooms are cozy and big. While the lectures here are quite friendly and surprisingly approachable and the fact that I am surprised the most is that we are assigned a personal tutor. This is great as if I have an problem of any sort there is a person I can readily talk to. Northumbria has many softwares which I can use for free and work with. The event, freebies are quite the exciting part. The library is spacious enough and quiet, not only the library but all of the buildings we can use free lecture hall to study freely. I love every fact about it till date and is excited for what the university holds for us in the upcoming years. read full review
Amazing course with knowledgable and interesting lecturers. The campus isn’t in a main city, so not much to do near by and the SU usually isn’t that busy. Cardiff is a 20 min drive away though so not completely estranged. Halls are really nice, with big rooms and a community feel! Pints cheap in the SU as well :) read full review

Education PhD

QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY BELFAST

Karina - November 2023

Queens is a great place to study because of its people. Here I met the nicest most professional in the areas of education and social justice. It has a fantastic library with a good access to so much knowledge.
Also the uni gives really good financial support for PGR students, so many of my colleagues are getting scholarships.

I think uni’s accommodation is quite pricey and leaves a lot of room for improvements, like the laundry facilities. Not all schools’ buildings are renovated and well equipped. Usually humanities suffer most in this sense, and their schools and departments look much less fancy read full review
Best: amazing student support, quality of education and friendly staff

Could improve: renew university's accommodation (mattress, carpets, chairs are old and dirty). More job opportunities in Campus read full review
There is great support for international students from the student union, student achievement team, help zone, and career studio. The international cafe also organizes events at different universities so that everyone can get to know each other and help everyone out if someone is struggling. Lecturers are also so supportive and helpful.
The career studio was helpful in providing me with ways to improve my CV. I wish there were a lot of jobs available for students on campus. read full review
The warm and inclusive environment, from the university faculty to the local Swansea community, truly makes you feel special and secure. This is a key reason why international students easily adapt and excel here.

An area for potential improvement lies in diversifying the student body. It would be fantastic to strive for a more balanced or nearly equal representation of students from various nationalities, as it can be disheartening when a class is dominated by students from a single country. read full review
As I study online, I can only comment on the online experience.

The student portal, Canva, is easy to navigate and holds all the course material. If you need to work offline then you are able to download the material, which makes you not too wifi dependent (I often read on my commute). And how it's structured gives you full flexibility to work around the course - the only non-flexible aspect are the assignment deadlines. Which again, as you are informed from day 1 what the assignment is, you can start early and work your way through it as you study.

The only thing that I would change is the online reading list on Canva, as the code is quite heavy to process and makes me conscious that students in the global south who are also studying and might have temperamental connection are perhaps finding this a barrier. The previous version was very simple and easy for the computer to process (I have an old mac) read full review
The campus is really nice. Always people around. The course is really nicely structured. Everything is close, so commute makes it easy. read full review
